1. What's your story? How did you get into all these languages?

My passion for languages started when I was about thirteen years old. I spent many hours listening to international radio stations such as BBC World Service, Voice of America, China Radio International, Radio Romania International, and Radio Prague. Listening to these broadcasts helped me improve my English and inspired me to discover new cultures.

After high school, I studied English at university. Later, a close friend encouraged me to learn German, so I enrolled at the Goethe-Institut. German changed my life because it gave me the opportunity to study in Germany.

French has always been part of my education because it was the language of instruction throughout most of my school and university studies. I later improved it through self-study by reading books and watching French media.

Arabic and Tamazight are both my native languages. My family comes from the Ida Outanane region near Agadir, where Tashlhit is widely spoken. At home, I grew up speaking both Tamazight and Moroccan Arabic.

Today, I am studying Chinese because I want to discover a completely different language and culture.

2. Which language(s) do you wish you could spend more time practising?

At the moment, I would like to spend more time practising Chinese because it is the newest language I am learning. I would also like to continue improving my French and German so that I can maintain a high level of fluency.

3. What are some languages you'd like to learn in the future?

For now, my main goal is to master Chinese. After that, I might learn another Asian language, such as Japanese or Korean, because I am interested in Asian cultures and civilizations.

4. Which language has the most charm for you?

Every language has its own beauty. Arabic is the language of my culture and heritage. English opened the door to the world. German gave me the opportunity to study abroad and changed my life. French is part of my academic background. Tamazight connects me to my family's roots. At the moment, Chinese fascinates me because it is so different from the languages I already know.

5. What's the greatest pleasure you get from speaking so many languages?

The greatest pleasure is being able to communicate with people from different cultures. Every language allows me to understand another way of thinking. It also gives me access to literature, history, music, and friendships that would otherwise remain inaccessible.

6. Some people say the world will have only a few languages left in one hundred years. Do you think this is true?

I believe that some smaller languages are unfortunately at risk of disappearing. However, I also believe that people are becoming more aware of the importance of protecting their linguistic heritage. Languages are part of humanity's cultural identity, so I hope that modern technology and education will help preserve them for future generations.

7. What is your message to people who are interested in studying multiple languages?

My advice is simple: never be afraid to start. Learning a language takes time, patience, and consistency. Practise every day, even for a few minutes. Read books, listen to podcasts, watch films, and speak with native speakers whenever possible. Every language you learn opens a new door to the world and changes the way you see life.
