1. What’s your story? How did you get into all these languages?

I have always been surrounded by English language as a young person.

Yet it was the process of learning Spanish that got me hooked on languages, after which I’ve had the will to learn many more.

2. Which language(s) do you wish you could spend more time practising?

I do intend to share the love between them equally. I would rather wish to practice some of them less, so that I can reach a better balance among all of them. However, if the day had 25 hours, I would invest the extra hour in German.

3. What are some languages you’d like to learn in the future?

I’ve got three languages that still tempt me - Dutch, Portuguese and Russian.

Given more time I’d love to try learning another Slovak language. I have sort of gravitated towards other language families, but them being so similar is just something I must experience to learn one day.

4. So let’s be honest, what’s the sexiest language?

Neapolitan. It’s quite subjective, but I will pick the gauntlet up.

5. What’s the greatest pleasure you get from speaking so many languages?

It is the constant ability so see how you have progressed while getting all the other benefits that are associated with the beautiful process of learning languages.

6. Some people say the world is really just going to have a few languages left in a 100 years, do you think this is really true?

Fewer, yes. However, there are too many languages in the world that are still in use and will most likely not go extinct within next 100 years to define the remaining ones as “few”. So I would disagree.

7. What is your message to young (and not so young) people out there who are interested in studying multiple languages?

I highly encourage everyone to study languages, especially people looking to take their first step into language learning. It could be a life changing decision, whether you’re after improving your cognitive thinking, asking for that coffee in Italy by yourself, creating a new conversation just due to your linguistic ability…

It goes hand in hand as a investment in yourself and sky is the limit.
