1. What’s your story? How did you get into all these languages?

My story begins in childhood, when I would listen to different languages on television and wonder how it was even possible for someone to speak so differently from me. I instantly developed a love for English through various sitcoms, and for German, since Inspector Rex was highly popular at the time. Shortly after, I found myself completely captivated by dramatic telenovelas mexicanas. In school, languages were always my strongest suit, both foreign and my native tongue. As I grew older, I realised their absolute importance. I initially enrolled in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, where I studied Latin language and literature alongside South Slavic languages (Slovenian and Bulgarian). However, at one point, I developed a parallel passion for journalism and public relations, which led me to pursue a degree in that field, while languages permanently remained my favourite hobby. Thanks to them, I had the opportunity to work as a translator, organise international language events, assist people during travels, and much more. I had the privilege of further perfecting my skills while living in Ireland and Spain. Today, this is no longer just a

hobby, it’s my business. I’m a proud entrepreneur who helps others master languages and develop the ability to become self-directed learners. My long-term goal is to command at least two-three languages from every major group, such as Germanic, Romance, and Slavic languages. Additionally, what captures my attention the most right now are agglutinative languages.

2. Which language(s) do you wish you could spend more time practising?

It's incredibly difficult to pick just one because I love them all equally. However, once I officially pass all my target European languages at the highest levels, I would love to dedicate myself long-term to an Asian language, specifically Korean.

3. What are some languages you’d like to learn in the future?

In addition to the ones, I'm already speaking and actively developing, I would love to add Portuguese to my repertoire, and it would certainly be a fascinating challenge to learn Mandarin Chinese.

 

4. So let’s be honest, which language has the most charm for you?

Oh, without a single doubt, it's Spanish, it's truly the language of my soul. But if I could add just one more, a true language of love, it wouldn't be French - it would be Turkish! That language is so rich that a single lifetime feels insufficient to fully describe its charm.

5. What’s the greatest pleasure you get from speaking so many languages?

There are so many, but if I must highlight the absolute greatest, it is the ability to completely shift my identity. No one can convince me otherwise! Delivering a message to a native speaker directly in their own language brings a level of pure satisfaction and connection that can never be replicated by speaking in a common foreign language.

6. Some people say the world is really just going to have a few languages left in a 100 years, do you think this is really true?

I do NOT believe that is true. Language is such a profoundly complex system that there is no way it Will just disappear. Of course, we could debate for hours about dialects, regional variants, and language evolution. Certain languages will undoubtedly retain a dominant global advantage, much like today, but we, the speakers of smaller languages, will not vanish. Personally, I will make sure to take care of Croatian! :) 

7. What is your message to young (and not so young) people out there who are interested in studying multiple languages?

Enjoy this process because it is a journey that never truly ends. No one in the world can ever take this power away from you. Learn languages and leave your unique mark. No one else will ever speak a language exactly the way you do. A living, spoken language is one of the very few things in this life that you simply cannot fake. Be incredibly proud of that!
